Your privacy is important to me. I try to follow some simple fundamental principles.
- I do not ask you for personal information unless I truly need it.
- I will not store your personal information unless I can not avoid it.
This is reflected by the following privacy policy.
I am running the site www.blinkenlight.net and blog.blinkenlight.net. This site is hosted by Automattic Inc.. As a consequence their privacy policy applies.
Notice that Automattic is a US company. Its policy includes some terms that may allow others – especially advertising companies – to track your browser. These companies are neither paid by you nor by me. I have absolutely no control what data they they gather. If you are suspicious I recommend to use suitable privacy enhancing and ad blocking plugins for your browser.
In addition I handle the following data:
1) Some of my pages contain tracking pixels of the German Verwertungsgesellschaft Wort (VG Wort). VG Wort is subject to German data protection laws. VG Wort collects statistical usage data linked to my website. The intend is to compensate authors for free copies of their work. I do this to fund my site while keeping it as ad free as possible.
2) Some of my pages contain links to other pages. If you follow these links they will know that you come from my pages. This is generic browser functionality that I can not disable for you.
2a) In case of links to Amazon.de
3) Some of my pages contain videos hosted at Youtube. Youtube belongs to Google. Of course Google can and will collect data according to their privacy statement.
4) I use Google Webmaster tools. If you arrive via a link from Google I will collect the search terms that led you to my site. I collect the search terms only. They will not be associated with you or your browser. Of course Google can and will collect data according to their privacy statement.
5) If you send me Emails or other personal messages by other means I may store them in order to sustain the conversation. I will not publish any personal messages unless I have explicit permission from you to do so.
6) I assume that any comments you leave on my pages are intended for publishing. I may delete any comments at my sole discretion. If you want me to delete any of your comments I will do so in a timely manner.
If you use privacy enhancing tools or ad blockers I am fine with it!
